Awarded to the Most Versatile Westie in the WHWTCA National Specialty and the three runners up based on the point system described below:

  • Dogs earn points (1 or 2) for their participation and success by Qualifying, Placing or Passing in each class at selected events during the week of the WHWTCA National at Montgomery, PA.
  • Events are WHWTCA Tracking Test, Terrier Agility, All-Terrier Obedience, Hatboro Conformation & Obedience, WHWTCA Sweeps & Obedience & Rally, Devon KC, MKC, NJ Earthdog.
  • Points accumulate over all classes in these events. However, no points for a titled Earthdog entering Intro to Quarry , a titled tracking dog getting re-certified, a titled obedience dog in Pre-novice. Tracking Certification must take place on plotting or test day at the tracking site.
  • To be eligible, a dog must qualify, place or pass in two different categories.
  • Ties will be broken by adding an extra point for each qualifying category beyond 2. Remaining ties by adding a point for each first place or interclass win. Remaining ties by comparing placements in head-to-head competition. These extra points are only used to break ties.
  • The Most Versatile Westie In Specialty Challenge Trophy is offered by Dawn L. Martin and Stephanie Capkovic. The trophy is a framed piece of original art by Chet Jezierski depicting a collage of Westies in all avenues of performance and conformation. For permanent possession, the trophy must be won three (3) times by identical owner(s), not necessarily with the same dog or at consecutive shows. The trophy will remain with the sponsors until it is retired.
  • The Annual MVWNS winner will receive a signed and numbered black & white print of the original collage drawing. If no WHWT meets the minimum eligibility requirements, no annual trophy will be awarded.
  • Other trophies will be selected from the cache of un-awarded WCA trophies. All trophies are awarded on Monday.

Since only the Stud Dog or Brood Bitch is entered, only the Stud Dog or Brood Bitch gets points even through his get or her produce may participate and be judged as part of the class. Each dog in a brace earns points individually for their participation in that class.

An example to clarify: A dog that places in sweepstakes on Saturday, participates but does not place at MKC, and places as part of a brace at MKC would earn 5 points in the conformation category. If this dog also qualified in two novice classes of Agility, he would earn 4 points in the agility category. On Monday, by qualifying in Senior Earthdog, the dog earns 2 points in Earthdog. Therefore, the dog earns 11 points total.
